TIGERS


Tiger’s


Bengal Tiger is 2.3-2.7meters and weighs 109-227kg, is the most numerous of all tiger sub-species with around 1,850 left in the wild. It is an endangered animal. Bengal tigers live in India and are sometimes called Indian tigers. They are the most common tiger and number about half of all wild tigers.

Siberian Tiger is the largest sub-species of tiger and is primarily found in south-eastern Russia and northern China. There are only about 450 Siberian tigers in the wild and it is an endangered animals.

The Sumatran Tiger is the smallest of the Tiger Species at a body length of 2.2-2.4 meters and weighing 85-110kg. Even their stripes are smaller and closer together than other tiger species. Their smaller size means they can move very quickly through forest in their natural habitat and their webbed feet make them very fast swimmers as well. There are now less than 500 left in the wild and it is an endangered animal.

Malayan Tiger is 2-2.4 meters and weighs 80-150kg. there are only about 500 left in the wild. they are an endangered animal.

Indochinese Tiger is 2.3-2.8 meters and weighs 100-195kg. because of its size and power the Indochinese tiger has no natural predators, excluding humans. it is thought that the Indochinese tiger is extinct in china, none have been seen since 2007, and is otherwise endangered, there are as few as 1,200 left in the wild. 

South China Tiger is 2.3-2.8 meters long and weighs 100-195kg. It is one of the smaller sub species of tigers. it is the most critically endangered of all tigers and there is estimated to be less than 20 left in the wild.




 

Extinct Tiger Species:
 
Balinese Tiger: became extinct in 1937, due to being hunted in large numbers. 

Caspian Tiger: Became extinct in 1950. They were though to be a subspecies of the Siberian Tiger. 

Javan Tiger: became extinct in 1980 due to hunting and the loss of their natural habitat.




In total there are less than 3,400 tigers left in the wild, there was once eight tiger species that roamed the earth and now there are only five left.
